Five Islands Village is located North West coast of Antigua about three miles southwest of the Capital St. John's. The village got its name from five rocks out in the sea nearby. The village itself is a peninsula, a large indentation projecting out into the water. The highest peak in the village is Mount Barrington. The hill is named after one of Antigua’s historical sites Fort Barrington, which lies on it. It was named after Admiral Barrington who had captured St. Lucia from the French 1667. The fort was built in the colonial period mainly as a ''look out'' for any battleships in the area. == Demography == Five Islands has a population of about five hundred people. There is one Primary School in the village. Apart from ‘Five Islands Primary School’ a university is in the process of being built. The people are recognized best for their farming and fishing since the village is surrounded by 12 of the 365 beaches on the island.
